September 2009 update

Thank you to everyone who has been supporting the fundraising efforts!  I would like to be able to give you accurate information, but until the final tender price is in and we have heard from the variety of grant bodies to whom we have applied we do not have an exact figure.  But thanks to the summer activities, workshops, lunches and balls we are £5000 closer!

We are expecting to have tenders back towards the end of next week and the planning permission is being heard on the 15th.  At that point we will have a much better idea of what our target is.  At the moment we are busy applying for grants and very positive that the shortfall will be found.  I will give you more information after final figures have been confirmed.

New School Build Update

As you may have gathered by the notices around the village, planning permission has gone in for the new build, and we hope it will be dealt with at the April planning Meeting.

March 2009

New School Build Update - As you may have gathered by the notices up around the village, Planning Permission has gone in for the new build, and we hope that it will be dealt with at the April Planning Meeting.  In the meantime, the Parish Council are holding a Public Meeting in the Village Hall on Monday evening so the local community have an opportunity to look at the plans and give their opinion on the design.  If you cannot make the meeting but would still like to see a copy of the designs please feel free to pop into school and have a look at our copy.  We are happy to answer questions.  If you would like to write to the council and give your support for the project, feel free.

On the matter of fundraising, we are nearly there!  The LCVAP committee met last week and agreed to grant us £300,000 towards the project.  This was great news and means we are now only £300,000 short of the original target.  The cuurent economic climate may well have an impact on the final cost so when the tenders are in (hopefully in a couple of months) we will know exactly how much we are looking for.  Our next step therefore is to examine private and public sources of funding to make up the ever decreasing short

Much has been happening on the New School Front.  We are still in discussions with the DCSF, county and various grant organisations to ensure that we have all the funding in place to build the school and pre-school.  We are hoping all will be sorted and the remaining money is in place shortly.

The  architects have been working closely with the children and staff.  We are all very excited by the plans and we hope that you will all take the opportunity to come to the open meeting on the 2nd December.  This is the final plan consultation stage.  It is a chance for all parents and members of the community to have a look at the plans and have a final say before the plans go in to the council.

The Architects are making regular visits to the school and the children are taking an active part in designing their new school.  We all visit the site regularly and have looked at the plants and creatures that are living on the site and how we can preserve them.

The children were very keen to give suggestions about what they would like our grounds to be like at the new site.

The Architects - Architype have been appointed and we are entering a very exciting stage of the process - design.  They will be meeting governors on Tuesday evening (3rd June) and will be spending all day in school on Thursday.  During the day they will be talking to all the children and staff at school and pre-school so that they can get a feeling for our needs and wishes!  They are hoping to meet parents as well so please come along between 3 and 4 o'clock.  It is a great opportunity for us all to get involved right at the start of what will be a very exciting project so please come along and have your say.

New School Update

We are now in the final stages of appointing our architect.  As soon as the decision has been made, we will be inviting them in to work with all the stakeholders to put together a series of plans and designs.  It is going to be a very exciting phase in the process and we would like to see as many people as possible, from both school and the wider community, getting involved, so watch this space!

We are entering a very exciting stage with the new school, as we are currently looking at appointing an architect.  Over half term I  had a great time visiting schools around the country looking at possible designs for our new build.  Anyone with a child in Class 3 will know that we hope to get the children involved with two children sitting in on the panel when the architects present their ideas to the governors.

Once that is done, near the end of March we hope to proceed to the design and planning stage quite quickly.  At that point we hope to engage both parents and the rest of the community so we can all work togetherto have the best school possible for the children and the village.
