Outdoor Day - The Olympics

We used hoops and made our own chariot races with the children taking it in turns to be the horse and the driver.

Class 1 took part in several sport activities.  Among these were the long jump.

The children used various materials including fabric and paper to design and dress up their own Staunton-on-Wye Olympic Mascot.

One of our mascots was based on a farmer.

Class 2 designed and decorated a winner’s podium. They made a torch and flags of all the different countries that take part in the Olympics to decorate the podium.

Some very competitive racing was also carried out.  Some Olympic champions in the making!

Class 3 made their own horses out of cardboard tubes, old socks, wool and pieces of fabric.

The horses made by the children then took part in a show jumping competition.

Class 2 took to the podium to receive their medals.  These had been made by the children earlier in the day.
