All the children in the school have the chance to help in our own organic school garden.  They take part in planting and harvesting the produce that they grow.  Some of the vegetables are taken home by the children to share with their families and some is used to make soup for our school harvest lunch.

We make our own compost and use it for our school garden.

The children take part in litter picking to keep our school grounds and the surrounding area tidy.

Class 3 have made nestboxes and have put them up in Bulmers’ orchard next to the school. They will visit them regularly to monitor how many birds use them over the nesting season. Mr. Field, the orchard manager, explained to us how apple trees produce fruit and what can be done to help wildlife in the orchard

Residential trip to the Centre for Alternative Technology. Most of the children in Years 4, 5 and 6 went on this 4-day trip in May 2008. We stayed in an eco-cabin at CAT where we had to monitor how much energy we were using and how it was produced.  We learnt about the natural world, renewable energy and sustainable living. We also visited the Rheidol Hydro-electric Power Station, Ynyslas beach, Carno windfarm and Gigrin Red-Kite Centre.
